Joe starts out life as an American stout, which is hoppy and bitter with malt flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, and dark fruits – think black cherry and currants. To accentuate the dark flavors of the stout, coffee is used during the brewing process to give the beer a distinct coffee flavor and aroma. Razzo Coffee in Rehoboth, MA supplies a medium roast Honduran San Vicente coffee, which perfectly complements the flavors and aromas, but leaving the beer very balanced.
